Robinson Bradshaw Class Action Practice

Many of the largest companies in the Carolinas have entrusted their class action defense to Robinson Bradshaw, including Wells Fargo (formerly First Union and Wachovia), Duke Energy, National Gypsum, SPX Corporation, Family Dollar Stores, Inc., CommScope, BB&T, Jefferson Pilot, Cone Mills, World Acceptance and aaiPharma. View a representative list of the firm’s class action cases here. The subject matter of these claims has included federal and state securities claims, ERISA, employment discrimination, claimed wage and hour violations, claims for breach of fiduciary duty, consumer finance claims, antitrust, Truth-in-Lending, and many others.

We were the first law firm in the nation to receive the American Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award for our work as lead counsel in Patrick Hyatt, et al, v. Margaret Heckler, Secretary of Health and Human Services (now styled Hyatt v. Barnhart), a class action lawsuit challenging the termination and denial of Social Security benefits to thousands of disabled North Carolinians. Our lawyers prosecuted the case through all levels of the federal judiciary, including the United States Supreme Court. We donated all of the attorney’s fees awarded to Legal Services of Southern Piedmont.

Today, the firm continues to be recognized as a leader in the field of litigation by numerous legal publications.  For five years running, Robinson Bradshaw has had more attorneys ranked by Benchmark Litigation than any other North Carolina firm. The publication also ranked the firm one of seven “Highly Recommended Firms” in the state, its premier designation for local litigation firms. Best Lawyers in America® has named Robinson Bradshaw number one in North Carolina Bet-the-Company Litigation since 2009 with 10 lawyers recognized in this area. Twenty-four of our litigators are continually ranked in other areas of litigation, including one who has been on the list since its inception in 1983. In addition, more than 30 of the firm’s litigators have been included in Super Lawyers®.
